Andy Carvin, former editor-in-chief of reported.ly, reflects on lessons learned from the social media-focused news outlet that ended news coverage last August.

Andy spoke at ONA16, the Online News Association conference in Denver, with P. Kim Bui, deputy managing editor, Wendy Carillo, anchor/producer, Asterias Masouras, anchor/producer and Marina Petrillo, social journalist, all members of the reported.ly team. Moderated by Matthew Ingram, senior writer for Fortune, the panel explored how to create a social team that can respond quickly to breaking news, as well as how to support distributed teams and fund social news operations.
