Trump security assumed I was a journalist, and because I was out of the press pen, they demanded I leave the rally. I refused. They put their hands on me and tried to shove me in the direction of the exit but I stood my ground and told them I would only submit to arrest by a police officer, and until that happened, I wasn’t moving and they were not to touch me.
They immediately took their hands off me and radioed for the police. Three officers arrived and were about to place me under arrest, but the head of security intervened after he figured out I wasn’t a journalist and so I wasn’t actually violating any of their rules.
Around the same time, Ben Schreckinger of Politico was ejected from the press pen. He had entered under general admission after having been denied a press credential. But here’s the thing. Security ordered him to leave, escorted him to the exit, and he left. He did not stand his ground. He didn’t require the police to arrest him.
