The White House partnered with 24/7 Media, Adtegrity, AOL, Condé Nast, Google, Microsoft, SpotXchange, and Yahoo! to develop best practices which “outline general baseline standards about copyright infringement takedown procedures, and exclude ad-serving platforms or ad exchanges. The standards generally describe how ad networks will process takedown notices from copyright holders about ads found on illicit sites.”
In a blog post, the White House said, “We believe that this is a positive step and that such efforts can have a significant impact on reducing online piracy and counterfeiting.”
