With the launch of the new Ethics in Journalism blog, Kelly McBride of Poynter shared Guiding Principles for Journalists, which are aimed to “encourage all who practice journalism to embrace principles that serve democracy.”
The three Guiding Principles are:
1. Seek truth and report it as fully as possible.
2. Be transparent.
3. Engage community as an end, rather than as a means.
McBride goes into more details about the principles and Poynter’s New Ethics in Journalism initiative in her blog post. What do you think about these principles?
