Kelly Fincham, Assistant Professor of Journalism at Hofstra, wrote a Storify on Storify to help her students understand how to use the tool. It’s a great primer on how to use the site to report news. 

Fincham says, “This is 21st century journalism which uses social media as dynamic wire postings and lets the reporter curate the content and provide context.”
